About the Adhan, Iqamah and the Heart

Zaynab

The Desire of the Caller
The Salik (the travellor to Allah [S.W.T.]), while calling the Adhan and the Iqamah, desires to inform his / her heart of the greatness of the Meeting and the Presence of Allah [S.W.T.].

He / She endeavours to think of his / her shortcomings, humility and inability, in order to bring in to his / her heart the fear and awe of Allah [S.W.T.].

In addition to this, the Salik strives to reveal the vast mercy and generous kindness of Allah [S.W.T.], to their heart, ultimately bringing about hope and eagerness.

Hadith
Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, quoting Abu 'Abdullah as-Sadiq [A.S.] said:
"When you recite the adhan and the iqamah, two rows of Angels will perform the salat behind you, but if you said the iqamah (only), one row of the angels would perform the salat behind you." (Furu'ul Kafi, vol. 3 p. 303, "Book of the Salat" ch. on "Starting the Adhan and the Iqamah", hadith 8.)

The Salik, as the leader of the Salat of the angels of Allah [S.W.T], and his / her heart, and of the visible and invisible powers,  of musallin (a Muslim performing salat), is responsible and liable for the recitings , so needs to be a keen observant of its accuracy and  giving due thanks to Allah [S.W.T.], the Majestic, the Benefactor.
