Writing Workshops
Australia - Turkey - Morocco - Egypt - Jordan
Think of travelling way away from your normal situation where the email and the cobwebs can't bother you but where you can see new sights and be truly refreshed. Take a trip and some workshops at the same time. Here are some destinations to consider...
Workshops in Australia
PressPress workshops can be arranged for you or your group in Australia - including residential workshops in a bush retreat in the Shoalhaven.
Previous workshops have included one-off poetry workshops or editing workshops or a series of workshops designed to stimulate creativity and provide skills.

Turkey
Turkey is a writer's paradise - who has not spent time dreaming of Byzantium? Istanbul is a city most famously layered with stories - as is Turkey itself. Detailed itineraries are available or tours can be customised to suit your preferences. You might be very keen to visit Troy, or Konya to see the resting place of Mevlana (Rumi). You can choose to tour or to visit and do writing workshops in small groups along the way. I loved Turkey and am keen to go back.
Morocco
Morocco is a diverse and surprising place - and every bit as romantic as the names Marrakesh or Casablanca make you think it is - and more.
This woman was winding silk thread at Bhalil. We later chatted (sign language) to women handmaking silk buttons with it.
While Bhalil was an old and small village, the medina at Fes is large and very complex. Inside is a modern and ancient metropolis.
Egypt and Jordan
Come on an accompanied tour with licensed Egyptologist and Jordanian guides and have your writing workshops along the way. Informative, relaxing, stunning. Egypt gives you a new definition of 'old'. It changes your perspective in so many ways. Sailing down the Nile on a ship (every cabin looks out onto the river) is one part of the tour which always pleases. You see people tilling their fields as they did millennia ago and then a teenager on the latest phone - on a donkey. And what's in Jordan? Petra of course! And so much more. People are always surprised at Jordan - you'll love it.
