CHRIS MANSELL

editorial services

The sorts of things I do

  1. Bulletcopyediting (the most basic - grammar, spelling, punctuation), and

  2. Bulletstructural editing (looking at the way the manuscript is put together on a larger scale, including consideration of audience/market), to

  3. Bulletmentoring (helping the writer manage the project, helping to set targets, devise useful structures etc), or

  4. Bulletsome combination of these three depending on the project and the writer's needs

  5. Bulletother writing projects involving research and production of an extended manuscript

Usually the first session is to discuss the manuscript or project generally and to determine what, if any, steps are next.

You don't need to commit to any particular amount or time. In the past, a writer has booked one session, gone away done a lot of work, emailed me when he or she wants the next session etc. This lets the writer work at his or her own pace.  If you want a straight edit (structural or otherwise) you can get a firm quote beforehand.

Arrangements can be made to find a designer/print broker who can liaise with printers to produce your final work.

If a writer has a poetry or short fiction manuscript he or she might, alternatively, want to consider the PressPress Manuscript Assessment service.

If you have a project that you would like researched and written (eg as a documentary script, a playscript or a book) or if you want something that is not on this list, please contact me by email: info@chrismansell.com.
