After the recent close look at William Kamm's cult by the media, and in particular the rather tenuous link to the Ugandan tragedy, William Kamm and Malcolm Broussard decided to make a rather bleating press release, and a letter. Well, I don't take it personally (ad-hominem attacks upon oneself are part and parcel of exposing frauds), nor am I particularly worried. I'm also not so full of myself as to imagine that I need to put out a press release. So this serves as a small rebuttal.
UGANDA:
1: The media has NOT continuously tried to link the MWOA with Kwibetere's cult. It was predictable that William would blame the media and somehow see sinister forces at play. That's just paranoia. The link came about quite by accident when William's messages were found there. There is no use denying that there is absolutely no link. William Kamm did not set the fires, and did not make the cult in Uganda go critical. He did however, like all other prophets of hysteria and paranoia, help to feed the fantasy that made it happen. Let me make that absolutely clear, as I did to the media : William cannot be blamed for what happened in Uganda. All doomsday cults feed off each other. William needs to be aware however, of the needless hysteria he helps to create and feed off.
The papers were discovered, following some very clever investigative journalism on the part of Giles Foden and Anna Borzello of the Guardian newspaper, and not even I was aware of the link until the story broke.
Furthermore, it was some great work by Marlene Maloney of Culture Wars Magazine/Fidelity Press, -a Catholic publication in the US that has been covering the apocalyptic Catholic cults (Necedah, Little Pebble, Bayside, Medjugorje conglomerate, etc.)- that pointed out that the statue thought to be Jesus Christ found in the Kwibetere church was actually a bust of St Charbel.
You can visit Fidelity Press by going here.William should be aware that the rather pathetic "loose ends" are nothing more than his lack of knowledge about what actually happened. Police joined the cult over there (police are not immune to joining cults), and the WINDOWS WERE NAILED FROM THE OUTSIDE.
ME PERSONALLY:
2: One does not need a degree in theology to expose lies. No one does. One only needs Common sense, a memory, and the will and wherewithal to do it. Similarly, one does not need to be a movie director in order to know that a film stinks.
3: Do William Kamm and Malcolm Broussard think I signed the guestbook when I visited the grounds? (there wasn't one anyway). Well, rather than saying that they are lying, I'll merely say that they are sadly mistaken. After all, are they likely to remember every human being that ever visited there?. Finally, 16 years of watching him, talking to ex-cult members, helping them leave his influence, talking and knowing some of the young ladies he had as his prospective queens, is enough to make me an expert on what he does, and how he operates.
What really bugs William is that there are people out in the real world who are prepared to expose his false prophesies and claims, and who are not fooled by him.
Lastly, I do not seek nor need permission from the Catholic church to expose William's false prophesies.
LEGAL STUFF:
4: William claims he has no funds to undertake legal action. I find that hard to believe. I know William has sought legal advice. Does William think I have no documentary evidence? Does he think that none of his ex-cult members will come forward to testify? Does he think that cult researchers would not come forward to testify? Not only that, any legal action will bring more scrutiny to him than he can bear. The mirrored web pages would see to it that the truth of what William does would always be available.
An error in William's logic is also exposed. William only needs to wait till the alignment of the planets, or the comet destroying the moons of Mars, and I'll have to shut up wont I? Well, I'll make a promise here. If the West-Kohoutek-Ikemura comet destroys the moons of Mars, and brings about the great conflagration on Earth that he says the Virgin Mary told him about, well, I'll take down the websites.
Of course, if William no longer thinks that the comet will destroy the moons of Mars, and bring about the end of days.........
Furthermore, If William Kamm becomes Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, then I'll humbly apologise, become one of his greatest converts, and spend the rest of my days doing Webpages that support him. If he shows the press a letter from Pope John Paul ll that nominates him as his successor, well, that will do as well. Then he doesn't need to worry about legal action.
5: The tragedy in Uganda was not about money. Cult tragedies never are. Waco did not happen because of false reporting. This claim by William demonstrates a singular lack of understanding of the cult phenomena, and that he is probably being fed by the Millennium Group. Vernon Howell (David Koresh), was the centre of the Waco Tragedy. Yes, innocents died. Yes, the US authorities handled it VERY badly. (They did NOT die because of false reporting, regardless of the ridiculous claim William Kamm makes). At the centre of this, Koresh and his adherents broke the laws of their country. David Koresh himself was having sex with 12 and 13 year old girls. His behaviour is well documented. Those who would seek to deify or rehabilitate the memory of Koresh as some innocent, forget what actually led up to the tragedy.
Waco, Heavens Gate, Solar Temple, Jonestown were under scrutiny long before they hit a tragedy. It's a sad fact that they don't hit the general news till after the event. In the case of Heavens Gate, warnings about a potential tragedy went unheeded.
It's a further sad fact that innocents always die in these things, swept up by the fantasy that their leader creates.
In each of these cases, the cult members DID NOT COMMIT SUICIDE. Let me make that clear: DOOMSDAY CULTS DO NOT COMMIT SUICIDE. Each group preached against suicide. In their eyes they were committing acts of rebellion, yes, even Jonestown. In the case of Heavens Gate, they used the word suicide to mean the failure to allow their spirit to move onto the next level, and to go with the spaceship. Cult leaders and cults justify their exits in their own way. In EACH AND EVERY CASE, and now in Uganda the tragedy occurred when the fantasy they had built could no longer be sustained, and reality came crashing down around them. Look at the video footage of Koresh taken weeks and months before the siege.
In each of these cases, Waco, Solar Temple, Heavens Gate, Jonestown, and now Kwibetere in Uganda, The cult was not about money, nor was it about sex even though there is a common thread of sex flowing through all of these cults. For cult leaders of doomsday cults, it's not sex or money. It's the exercise of power. The sexual element is merely an outlet for the expression of that power. The ultimate expression of power, is the power over the lives of their followers. These cults don't fall apart until the fantasy they have created comes crashing down as reality breaks in.
WHAT'S NEXT FROM WILLIAM KAMM?:
6: William is unlikely to do anything in that regard anytime soon, because there are no real trigger events and reality has not yet crashed in on his fantasy, but we don't have to wait till the ultimate tragedy to see what he has done to families around the world, and we don't need to wait till then to see the failures of his prophecies. I was disturbed to see him happy to express (on the A Current Affair program) that if his followers want to die for him, it's an act of faith.
7: William does face some interesting times in the near future: first, William Kamm is approaching 50 years of age (16th May 2000). He wont be Pope, even though he has said that he would be Pope in his 40's. Secondly, the prophecies of Hale-Bopp, Comet Lee, and now the alignment of the planets and the comet West-Kohoutek-Ikemura, will once again add to the growing numbers of failed prophecies that William has been making since the beginning of his career (along with predictions that Indonesia would invade Australia, Hale-Bopp, 2 guys under the snow at Thredbo, etc, etc.).
Thirdly, and most importantly, Pope John Paul 2 is, sadly, looking very frail and sick. When he dies, and the Catholic Church appoints the next Pope, William faces a tough choice, but also has an opportunity which helps him.
He has no choice at the moment but to declare the next Pope an Anti-Pope, and then crown himself. Not only will that mean he has to take his flock *completely* away from the Catholic church (and some of his followers will be looking *very* closely at the consequences of that decision), it also gives him the following "out": he will , in his viewpoint no longer need to seek Church approval, since the church will be led by someone he claims will be the Anti-Pope.
This actually removes a barrier from his activities. The only option left to William to prevent any schism, and to maintain any semblance of credibility, is for William to start making up excuses for changing tack, but he needs to start making those excuses up soon.
