EVENT: UFO X-File Re-opened. Presentation by Russel Henthorn.
When: Wednesday, October 26th at 7.30 pm.
Where: Eaglehawk Secondary College Library. Access via Reserve St.
Presented by the Bendigo District Astronomical Society www.bdas.net
On May 24th 1983, something in the night sky over Bendigo caught the eye of local amateur photographer Russel Henthorn. Russel set his camera up and took a photograph of something that he had never seen before! What were those lights in the sky? Was this man made, some kind of natural phenomenon, or a craft from another world?
The photographs taken by Russel made headlines at the time and there were several other sightings during this period.
Several experts examined the photographs including the RAAF. The negatives were sent to the U.S. for analysis using sophisticated computer processing equipment. Victorian and Tasmanian UFO research organisations also examined the data from these photographs. Were they able to provide a suitable explanation?
The negatives and documents have been handed over to Bendigo District Astronomical Society for safe keeping. They have been re-examined using current digital technology to try and determine what this strange object was.
Russel will present his photographs and account of the sighting, including the original media articles and analysis of the photographs. BDAS astronomers will provide information based on their current research of this most unusual UFO event.
All are welcome to this most fascinating presentation. Tea & coffee will be provided afterwards. A gold coin donation would be appreciated. Funds raised by BDAS will go towards the construction of an observatory and facilities for use by members and the community. Enquiries are welcome by phoning Barry McPhee on 03 5447 9918. No RSVP necessary.
