OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE REVIEW
The Occupational Hygiene Review assesses actual and potential worker exposure to
risks present in the workplace, such as exposure to chemicals, excessive noise,
poor manual handling practices and workplace ergonomics. This assessment
initially consists of a walk through survey, during which time such risks are
identified. An interim client report is then prepared which details:
the potential risks identified;
areas where regulations are not being complied with, or
where there is a potential for a breach of regulations;
recommendations to mitigate or eliminate obviously
unacceptable risks; and
the identification of areas where monitoring is
warranted, due to the real potential forexcessive
worker exposure. ....
Follow-up monitoring can be carried out to fully assess worker exposure in areas
where a potential risk has been identified. Based on the monitoring results, the
client will be provided with a report which identifies:
areas where worker exposure is below recommended maximas;
areas where exposure is not excessive, but may be easily
reduced further;
areas where exposure is excessive; and
remedial actions such as:
- - elimination of the contaminant material;
- engineering controls;
- changes in work practices; or
- personal protective equipment.
