Four maro paintings
are painted on small rectangular pieces of coarse bark-cloth using simple traditional motifs; little patina on bark.
Material: bark, pigments; dimensions: 230 x 100mm; 190 x 85mm; 150 x 100mm; 150 x 110mm.
Provenance:
Collected on Asei Island in Lake Sentani in 1996.
Inspiration for the motifs used in the paintings come from those found on carved and sculpted objects of the Sentani people.
