Big Gun R/C Warship Combat
In Big Gun Warship Combat, captains from Australia,
United States, New Zealand, Sweden and Canada build, fight and sink, scale
model warships Each ship is armed with CO2-powered
CANNONS that blast steel ball bearings into its enemies. Any ship from
1900 - 1946 is allowed. These fighting ships are in 1/144 scale,
so your average battleship measures between 5 and 6 feet long!
Armor thickness and gun caliber's vary depending on what the prototype
carried. And water pumps are used to control any flooding.
As long as your pump can bucket the water overboard, all is fine. But when more water comes in than the pump can handle...you have two choices; get your ship home... or become a statistic!
Big Gun Warship Combat was designed to give modelers a way of engaging in R/C combat with a decidedly naval taste. You can form task forces to route your enemies; set out on a lone raiding mission with a Graf Spee or Scharnhorst; run convoy escort with a King George-V and protect unarmed freighters from the monster Tirpitz...just about anything you've read about. Make your plans, but remember this, it's WAR out there. Just as Murphy worked his treacherous art on all sides of both World Wars, he does so here as well. Receivers go dead, leaving massive killer ships as mere targets; motors shut down because of bad power leads; old gas lines rupture, yanking the teeth out of your Tiger. Here, you will find it all: strategy, machinery, gunnery, and Murphy Law....
Build your alltime favorite ship, be it Allied (Australian, British, US, Free French and others) or Axis (German, Italian, Vichy French and others), and engage in combat with others against the opposition.
AND THIS IS NOT JUST BIG TOYS FOR BIG BOYS! The whole family can get involved.
Most of the parts and supplies are available here in Australia. If not, other members will know where, how and how much. Plans are available from a number of suppliers. There are Fiberglass hulls being built in Australia. One member is importing the cannons. We are a new hobby but we are growing fast. Come on, join in the fun!
The Victorian Battle Squadron is one part of the Australian Battle Group. The Australian Battle Group is the nation wide body that represents the hobby. The AusBG has negotiated gun law excemptions with the individual states and territory's and has public liability insurance for all official Battle Meetings.
There are other Members of the AusBG right across the country, so if you are interested , check out the AusBG Contacts or contact the VBS, both below.
