Paul McCloud spent his formative years on his parents' farm at Tambar Springs near Tamworth, where his supporters now gather each Easter for a bush camping weekend of campfires and Country Music. He released his first album in 1982, recorded at Hadley Studios in Tamworth, titled "The Sensitive Sound of Paul McCloud". His fifteenth album titled "Easy on My Mind" was released in October, 2001. Eight of his albums are still available on CD.
Paul is undoubtedly one of Australia's most successful independent recording artists and he feels very priveleged to have received the support, guidance and excellent musicianship of some of Australia's best musicians, producers and engineers who have worked with him on recording projects over the years, including Eric Scott, Lindsay Butler, Steve Newton, Larry Larstead, Chris Jones, Vic Lanyon, John Minson, Geoff Clapson and many more.
For most of the past two decades Paul has spent his time, in between recording projects, travelling Australia and presenting his unique one man show to a legion of dedicated supporters. His strongest supporter and travelling companion being his wife Hele. They often tour by caravan accompanied by their Himalayan cat Chloe, about fourteen years old. Paul has appeared at every Tamworth Country Music Festival since 1983 and, along with a number of guest artists and volunteer supporters, runs his own Festival of Campfires and Country Music each Easter at the family farm "Hartwood" near Tambar Springs, N.S.W. "Hartwood" was purchased in 1946 by Paul's father, The Roadie. Paul's mum, The Shirtmaker made all of Paul's stage shirts in the early years out of old wedding frocks purchased from Op Shops along the way.
Often referred to by his peers and fans alike as the Master Performer, Paul's current two-hour concert is a mixture of fun, laughter and song, and is packed full of special moments, memories and magic that will leave you with that lingering warm feeling long after the last song.
As a firm believer in the teachings of Jesus and taking care of the soul, Paul is very pleased to have had many people comment on the comfort they have gained from his "Pure Gospel" album.
