Linda Beatty with FurDjango

Another gorgeous Saturday afternoon in St Kilda with FurDjango playing downstairs in Big Mouth's cafe for a change. We love it downstairs, great cafe ambience with passers-by stopping to watch us through the large open windows.

I played the double bass all day again and you know what?... it looks slimming on me. You know what they say, want to look slimmer, stand next to an elephant... or a double bass which is better because it doesn't poo boulders randomly all over the place. Besides you need a permit for an elephant. Then again, are elephant poos really random or is there some pattern to them? Hmmmmmm...

Now, I've had to make some significant changes to accomodate the double bass... I bought a new house and car to fit it in. Particularly the car, needed a bigger car so I bought a Mini. Stop laughing. It's not funny.

This last Saturday, we had special guest Linda Beatty join us on swinging vocals for a set. Linda is a professional vocalist, harpist and musical educator www.classicelegance.com.au. Linda thinks the Mini is a sensible car to own if you have a double bass so she can come back and sing some more for us. And she will, Linda will be doing more work with FurDjango and Ain't Misbehavin' in the next few months so keep an eye out for more news on this.

I won't be playing this coming Saturday 15 September. Have to go and sell off the old smaller house to help pay for the bigger one (for the love of bass). Jon and Yuta will be taking over as a duo. We will also be featuring Jon's trio "String Theory" which comprises Avi Ganesan (bass) and Linda Lin (keyboard).

The following weeks will see Yuta and I in a jazz guitar duo without Jon culimating in the END OF THE WORLD PARTY (see below) with special guest, luthier Gary Rizzolo. You'll notice that the gig guide. shows more gigs after the END OF THE WORLD PARTY... we're optimists... in any case we want to go out playing.
