Wear resistant components for the mining industry.

hydro-cyclone
100% Australian made.

Taylor Ceramic Engineering manufactures a large range of wear resistant ceramic components for the mining industry, with 18+ years of outstanding field successes of ceramic lined cyclones and other mineral processing equipment.

TCE's unique processing technology facilitates the manufacture of the largest high density, high purity (99%+) alumina products in Australia. Components are produced to customer specifications with dimensional accuracy guaranteed. Alumina ceramics offer your operation increased wear resistance in those troublesome areas of excessive erosion, corrosion, or chemical degradation. The superior wear resistance of TCE's ceramics, in many applications, results in; decreased down time and maintenance costs, increasing productivity and thus profits.

Ceramic tipped rotary filter blades.

Taylor ceramic engineering's newly developed Alumina Tipped Rotary Filter Blades have proven to be an outstanding performer in the wine industry. Vineyards using the blades have reported 'SHARP LIVES IN EXCESS OF 2000 HOURS', more than twice that of previously used stellite blades, and at a lower cost!

A greater 'sharp life' has enabled wine makers to produce vintages without shutting down to sharpen or replace filter blades. This breakthrough gives, lower downtime, greater production, and lower maintenance costs.

Each blade is manufactured to the customers required length. In some instances it is possible to rework worn stellite, or other blades, by bonding the new ceramic blades directly to the worn blade.

Cost savings can also be made by dividing the blade into smaller lengths therefore eliminating the need to carry costly full length replacement blades. The shorter blade simplifies replacement if a blade section is damaged or needs resharpening or relining.

Field trials have shown TCE Ceramic Tipped Rotary Filter Blades to be a superior product to traditionally tipped blades, out performing competitive materials to give wine makers substantial saving in downtime and maintenance costs.

Ceramic Lined Cyclone

vortex finder from coal washery
Composite ceramic lined vortex finder, after two years intense work

This vortex finder is part of a ceramic lined coal fines washing cyclone which has been in service at Clutha's Wollondilly, NSW Coal Washery.

Showing virtually no wear, this outstanding performance was noted when the cyclone was removed for inspection after two years of trouble free service. The ceramic lining, which forms the main working area of the cyclone, shows only a slight polish after this long working period.

The underflow spigot of this cyclone showed only 5mm wear and was replaced in minutes. This allowed the cyclone to go back into service for another two years of trouble free operation. Extended life periods mean significant savings to the company on downtime and maintenance costs.

Utilising Australian raw materials and, a novel processing and forming technology, TCE is now producing some of the worlds largest, near to theoretical density high alumina shapes placing NSW Australia, as a leader in advanced ceramic production.

This edge in forming technology allows the company to create highly complex and dense shapes to meet the requirements of today's cost effective mineral processing operations.

TCE manufactures a wide range of high purity alumina pipe liners and lined pipes. Straights, 45, 90 degree and custom made bends and half pipes - even difficult shapes, we can make them all. Ceramic pipe liners are usually manufactured to customer specifications for assembly on site or if required, pipes can be lined to required lengths ready for installation. We can even reclaim worn pipes in most instances.

Ceramic Lined Extrusion Dies.

In 1980 the first ceramic lined extrusion die to be produced in Australia was designed and manufactured by TCE. That die is still in operation today!
Extrusion die Ceramic lined extrusion dies offer greater potential for extended die life and therefore lower power consumption during operation.
Due to the differences in operational factors ceramic dies may not directly duplicate existing metal dies. TCE's engineering staff will be pleased to work with you to modify existing technology and facilitate the change to advanced ceramic linings.

Created with TCE's advanced forming technology, a virtually unlimited range of shapes and lining configurations are possible. These ceramic linings are still limited to the principles of plastic flow through an orifice, thus consideration must be given to drag and flow resistance when designing shapes. The aim is to create a balanced die flow.

Life expectations are normally lower for stiff extrusion applications compared to soft mud. However, the normal benefits of this technology still apply, and gains by utilisation of ceramic linings are still proportionate.
