Character Generation

I would prefer players to play characters of the same sex and race as yourselves, unless you have a strong preference to the contrary, as I get confused when the divergence is too great.

All PCs are members of the Loyalist faction of the Sabbat. Create them as per The Player's Guide to the Sabbat, with the following modifications:

Clans

The following clans are recommended: Tzimisce, Ventrue antitribu, Toreador antitribu.

The following clans are not available as PCs, for various in-game reasons: Lasombra, Tremere antitribu, Ravnos, Nosferatu antitribu.

Attributes

I recommend making physical attributes your lowest priority, as you will seldom need them in-game. When you do need them, you may simply spend blood points to raise them.

Abilities

Combat-related Abilities are not a priority in this setting; you should not place more than four points, total, in all such Abilities (a maximum of two is recommended).

Backgrounds

All PCs must have some connection, however tenuous, with the entertainment industry. I would prefer all PCs to have strong ties to the city.

Fame
This is the important one. All PCs start with one free point of fame. This may or may not have anything to do with their link to The Industry.
Resources
Resources will be important to your character's survivability. Their actual use will be mainly glossed over; so long as you have a semi-plausible story as to why your character has money and how they access it.
In addition, all PCs must own their own vehicle, and hence, must buy enough Resources to run it.
Generation
Diablerie is a favourite pastime of the Sabbat, so early generations are common. Generation may be further improved through the Baby On A Stick ritual.
Retainers
There are no restrictions on Retainers; however, remember that there is no such thing as Blood Bonding, so think carefully about how you ensure their loyalty.
Contacts, Allies, Herd
Unlike mainstream Sabbat, Loyalists may acquire these as normal.
Mentor
If your character has a mentor in L.A., it is most likely The Count; there are not a lot of other senior Sabbat handy to Los Angeles. Explain either how you keep in touch with your mentor, or why The Count has taken a particular liking to you.
Influence
Political clout doesn't really matter to PCs in this chronicle; the PCs simply don't move in those circles. If you want your character to have pull in Hollywood, buy Fame and Resources, or specify that your Influence is in The Industry.
Sabbat Status, Clan Status
These are harder to obtain for Loyalists than for any other Sabbat. If you have these backgrounds, have a good story to explain why.
Alternate Identity
If you are trying to pass yourself off as Anarch or Camarilla to either of those sects, you may have this rating up to two.
Pack Recognition
Conferred on you solely by the other PCs.
Black Hand Membership
Not applicable. You may not be both a Black Hand and a Loyalist.

Virtues

Humanity is just another path to the Loyalists; it may be bought up to 10. Keep in mind that, to a Loyalist, Humanity means they must regulate their own behaviour; it does not compel them to try to constrain others.

Degeneration rules will be rigidly enforced. Choose your path carefully; even ones that seem like "The Path of What You Wanted to Do Anyway" (eg. Path of Cathari), may require you to make difficult choices in this chronicle.

Miscellaneous

The Eat Food merit is so common among the Loyalists that many pick it up without meaning to; it may be taken at no cost. Seeing others eat generally does not disgust L.A. Loyalists the way it does other vampires.

I recommend the merit Common Sense, especially for experienced players. This version of the World of Darkness works a little differently from what you're used to, and Common Sense will allow retconning when you inevitably stumble over small differences in assumptions.

Each character starts with a Vinculum rating of one (or higher, by negotiation) towards all other Loyalists in Los Angeles.

Finishing Touches

Summarising your character's appearance as "He looks a little like X" is fine, especially if X is a celebrity and you can bring an appropriate picture of X along to sessions.

In addition to choosing your character's major motivation(s), decide what you want for your character, ie. how would you like their unlife to progress, how do you envision their story ending.

All set? Okay, then, altogether now:

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood ...
