BIOGRAPHY

Born in Queensland, Australia - Mark Tempany's love of music began at a very early age.

The last of four children, his exposure to a wide range of music styles was assured by a family that constantly played their records and radios during his formative years. Mark's mother - herself a fine singer - encouraged everyone in the Tempany household to enjoy and celebrate music on a daily basis.

By the age of eight, Mark had learned to play guitar, and was writing and singing his own songs. A fourth-grade school class became his first audience - a high school variety concert his first stage outing as a performer.

As Mark progressed through university (where he earned a degree in Environmental Science) he had already determined that music was the dream he needed to pursue.

Starting out in the Brisbane folk music scene in the early 1990's, in late 1993 Mark entered a local talent quest that would prove pivotal. The organiser of the event - much impressed by Mark's potential - encouraged him to visit the impending Tamworth Country Music Festival and to enter numerous talent searches held there.

Success was immediate with Mark winning two major awards at the CCMA National Talent Search, and thus being redirected into the Australian country music industry.

To this point having always seen himself as a songwriter (NOT as a performer), by mid 1994 Mark had grown frustrated by his inability to have recording artists review his songs. Now determined that the only way to have his music heard was to perform it himself, by late that year his debut album - "Stand In The Storm" - had been released.

Encouraged by this modest success, a second album - "Southern Skies" - appeared in 1996. At the same time Mark found himself a Grand Finalist in Australian country music's premier talent search - Star Maker, in Tamworth. By now Mark and his music were gaining regular radio play, and national print media was starting to take note of his ever-increasing list of achievements.

In 1998 a third album, "Summer Dreams", was completed and almost immediately Mark won second prize in the esteemed Unisong International Song Contest. This instigated a promotional visit to North America, and later that year a tour through the USA and Europe.

Even more importantly the inspirations & experiences of these rapid overseas developments led to Mark's fourth album - "Far Away" - a career watershed with it's brilliant production, performances and media success.

With the release of "The Long Highway" in 2003, Mark firmly established himself as one of Australia's finest independent recording artists.

With a reputation for superb performances, over 15,000 album sales, multi award-winning & multi media successes all over Australia and overseas - Mark's unique Australian music has certainly made an impression.

A national Australian tour with UK superstar Charlie Landsborough has combined with performances alongside national identities like Kate Ceberano and James Blundell to continue Mark's rise since 2006. In December 2008 Mark - with fellow Australian singer, songwriter & performer Alison Hams - played to over 35,000 people at Adelaide's "Carols By Candlelight" at Elder Park.

In fact Mark & Alison have primarily combined as a formidable acoustic duo since 2006 - as well as further expanding through their on-going music business.

Stormfront Productions now boasts not just the marketing & management of Mark & Alison's professional careers - but also significant achievements in major event management, graphic art, website design, music tuition services and, as-of late 2009, topline recording studio facilities through their Stormfront Recording initiative.

Mark & Alison were married in late 2005 and continue their musical progress from their home base in Whyalla, South Australia.
