'Snaps from Sydney' is a handsome 128 page photographic journey through the streets of Australia's largest city. Photographer Andrew Stark using a purely candid, documentary style has over a twenty year period captured his home city in gritty, grainy 35mm black & white. Like the city itself the photographs are youthful, vibrant and often wryly humorous, yet darkly many sub themes run throughout as Stark whispers of struggle, of a city caught between old ways and new opportunities. It's been shot with a keen eye for the excluded and embraces with some empathy an untraditional Sydney. 'Snaps from Sydney' is a welcome edition to the burgeoning library of Australian visual art.
