This page talks about the sorts of projects that the proceeds of the CD sales will go towards, and calls for expressions of interest by any group or person undertaking or considering the undertaking of a project relating to native plants.
We would like to share the success of our CD with people who share our commitment to Australian native plants. With the proceeds from the sale of our CD, we are seeking to support projects which meet the following principles.
We are also looking for developers to convert the code to run on Macintosh systems. Obviously, since this is a not-for profit organisation, we would prefer volunteers but we are prepared to let a fixed price contract. See below if you think this is you.
Sutherland Group is looking to support projects which meet these principles:
We are particularly interested in hearing from teaching students or education consultants to develop curriculum materials to support the use of the CD in primary and secondary schools.
As a guide, approx $2,000 per project is available, although higher amounts will be considered. The project should be clearly defined, with the purpose of the funds specified.
There is no application form or closing date. Sutherland Group meets regularly to review CD sales and applications for project support.
At present, the Coastal Plants CD only runs on Windows based platforms. We are looking for developers who are able to migrate the software to Macintosh platforms, so that more people can enjoy this useful software. The Windows software is written in Visual Basic v6 and uses Microsoft Access v2.0 file format for the databases. In so far as is possible/practical, we would like the Macintosh version to have the same "look and feel" as the Windows version. If you are a Macintosh developer, and would be interested in undertaking such a project, please drop us an email (see below).
