A pilgrim on the Barkhor is given a meal by Tibetan traders. It is expected that religious pilgrims to Lhasa may have to beg for food and alms to fund their return to homes often vast distances away. In turn their benefactors - Lhasa's people - expect to gain merit in their own relentless cycle of reincarnation.
