Cabbage Tree Bay

Fairy Bower and Shelly Beach seen from the path from Manly |
|
On the map it is called Cabbage tree Bay but there are very few cabbage trees to be seen. Once they were thick through here but in the early days of white settlement they were cut down for building materials in the development of Sydney Town. Recently Manly Council has begun replanting them along the pathway between South Steyne and Shelly Beach. The pathway meanders its way along the shoreline past good snorkelling grounds and waterside restaurants to Shelly Beach and Fairy Bower. The "Bower" turns on a great point surf when big southerly swells wrap themselves around the headland. |
