The Great Apostasy

Articles on the subject of:

The Current Apostasy and False Teachers

[ Rock Evangelism ] (Added 17/06/2004) On Sunday night, 30 May, 2004, I watched the "Compass" program which is aired weekly on ABC TV.  The story was entitled "Converting Newcastle" and featured a group of churches in Newcastle, north of Sydney in NSW, Australia, who, over recent years, have come together in an effort to evangelize their community.  "Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived", 2 Timothy 3:13 tells us.  Hunter Harvest proves the truth of this prophetic Scripture.

[ The Lord's Profits ] (Added 04/01/2003) A revealing article about Brian and Bobbie Houston and Hillsong, written by Sydney Morning Herald reporter, Greg Bearup.  This article appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday, 30 January, 2003.  "Come out from among them and be ye separate!" saith the Lord.

[ World Worship ] (Added 04/01/2003) From the 4th through to the 7th of September, 2002, with great excitement amongst the local Christian community, Hillsong was the main attraction at the “World of Worship” Conference at the Cairns Convention Centre. A single-page, three-fold leaflet was produced by this ministry and distributed locally.  It warned of the dangers of Hillsong generally, as well as the type of music they offer to God, supposedly as praise and worship.  The contents of the leaflet is the subject of this article.

[ Bewitched by Harry Potter ] - Linked Article - (Added 15/12/2001) An article by Berit Kjos of the Kjos Ministries website. Berit writes, "The haunted grounds of Hogwarts may be out-of-this-world, but with its blend of earthly familiarity and practical magic, it has captivated more than seven million minds. Adults and children alike have, in their imagination, followed Harry through that mystical veil between ordinary reality and occult fantasy." Read this excellent article for a Christian perspective on the dangers of Harry Potter.

[ The Wicked World Of Harry Potter ] (Added 15/12/2001) Written by Dr. Glen Spencer Jr. of Vernon Baptist Church in the U.S. Dr. Spencer writes, "We will not look at the Word of God in light of Harry Potter, but rather, Harry Potter in light of the Word of God. God's Word does have quite a bit to say about Harry Potter."

[ Charismatic Cultism ] (Added 28/08/2001) This article by Kevin Reeves in Alaska, is an analysis of what happens when you stand up for Biblical Truth in apostate churches. Kevin, who writes from a Pentecostal perspective, comments, "Discerning believers are rightly alarmed by the many dramatic departures from orthodox Christianity, heretical doctrines that have come from within the Church itself. And far too often, efforts on the part of these concerned Christians have been met with stonewalling, resistance, or outright condemnation from the shepherds that are supposed to be guarding the flock."

[ Houstons... We Have A Problem ] (Added 23/09/00) Part of CWM's "Unmasked..." series which appears in their Vanguard Magazine. Used by Permission. This article, written by Neil Richardson, appeared in the August 2000 issue of Christian Witness Ministries' Vanguard Magazine. It is an excellent Biblical critique of the book, "You Need More Money", written by Brian Houston, current General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Australia and senior pastor of AOG Hills Christian Life Centre, home of fantastically popular Hillsong Music. Houston's indoctrination by Word of Faith and Dominion Theology are clearly revealed in his own writings. His beliefs have been appropriately exposed by Neil Richardson's article.

[ Jumping On The Bandwagon ] (Added 04/09/00) "Australian Christian Churches" - Have They Been Seduced By The Beat Of A Different Drummer? The launching of Australian Christian Churches has been hailed in both secular and Christian press as an enormous success in bringing together a number of independent Christian bodies for the purpose of "making a real difference in the community" and "offering a dynamic spiritual dimension missing from many people's lives." After comparing with Scripture all that has been said and done by ACC, I believe the Pentecostal and Charismatic leaders of this new alliance have simply jumped on the Bandwagon to join in playing a selection of Latter Rain, Kingdom Now tunes. Unfortunately, the procession following this wonderfully decorated and colourful Bandwagon continues to attract numbers at a phenomenal rate.

[ The Reproach of the Solemn Assembly ] (Link Added 12/03/00) The text of the message preached by David Wilkerson of Times Square Church, New York, clearly giving warning regarding teachings and activities of a number of highly popular Word of Faith teachers. The actual audio recording of this message is available for down loading or for listening on-line at "Christian Witness Ministries" Web Site.

[ Warnings of Deception in the Bible ] (Added 05/02/00) The Bible is replete with warnings as to what will take place in Christendom during the 'end time' or the 'end of the age'. It speaks of a time of increasing deception and false teaching as the enemy of our souls makes a last desperate bid to thwart the purposes of God. It describes the types of people who will deceive, and be deceived. It also describes the types of doctrines that will be preached and how those doctrines will be received by a great number of professing Christians.

[ The Parables Of The Kingdom ] (Added 19/09/99) Christendom as described in Matthew 13. We have been taught, and most of us have believed, that the symbols used by the Lord in the parables of Matthew 13 are to be interpreted to represent the influence of the Gospel message upon the peoples of the world - how the Word of God will spread throughout the earth and bring vast numbers of new believers into the church. Multitudes will hear and respond to the Gospel message and be converted, vastly swelling the numbers in the churches - so our teachers have said. This article might shock you when you find that we have been misled (again) and your understanding is challenged to see these parables in a new light.

[ "The Message" Bible Per-Version ] (Added 08/08/99) An ‘Exciting’, ‘Fresh’, ‘Contemporary’ Version Of The New Testament??? Not likely. Just another sign of the apostasy that rages around us. Although endorsed by Christian leaders such as J.I.Packer, Warren Wiersbe, Billy Graham and Jack Hayford, ‘The Message’ is disgracefully inaccurate and should be avoided by anyone professing to be a Christian and who is serious about running the race to the end.

[ The Prince Of Egypt ] (Added 18/07/99) A review of the much acclaimed animated movie, "The Prince of Egypt". With a discriminating look through the eyes of Scripture I arrive at the important question - "Would God be pleased?" Includes some E-mail messages that passed between myself and other Christians as we sought God's mind on the topic and also a thought provoking critique by Berit Kjos

[ By Their Fruit You Shall Know Them ] (Added 18/07/99) The often quoted phrase from Matthew 7:16 tells us that "by their fruits we shall know them." Who shall we know by their fruits? What are their fruits? Find the surprising answer to these two important questions as Christendom rushes blindly and recklessly down the road to apostasy.

[ A Divisive Man ] During one of my unsuccessful attempts to reveal the truth regarding false teaching being promoted into our fellowship, a brother in the Lord accused me of being divisive, quoting Titus 3:10. He also asked me if I had ever thought about doing anything beneficial for the Body of Christ. What does Titus 3:10 really teach?
