About The Lamp Ministry
"The Lamp Ministry" Web Site has been produced by
in support with brothers and sisters of kindred Spirit in the Lord, for the specific purpose of making a stand for the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and warning the sheep of the Lord's pasture of wolves in their midst.
Where Are We?
We are based in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia. Both Colleen and I have spent most of our lives in this area. In 1956, when I was 10 years of age, I moved with my family to Cooktown - a small town of about 400 people 250 kilometres north of Cairns. I spent most of my teenage years there and in 1971, I moved to Weipa, another 500 kilometres north, where I worked in the Bauxite mine owned by Comalco. In 1985 I moved back to Cairns where I attended the AOG, Cairns Christian Centre, until my dismissal in June, 1998.
There is today, a serious challenge from within the professing Christian denominations against the intended meaning and truth of the Word of God. Truth has been eroded from the mouths of the shepherds and the sheep are being fed another Gospel, exactly as prophesied in Scripture by the Lord Jesus Himself.
Our purpose in producing this site is not to attack valid leadership within Christendom (which of course we will be accused of), but rather, in obedience to the Scriptures, to stand against the lies and myths that have been, and are being promoted by the leadership of a number of denominations and para-church ministries. Our intention is not to focus upon personalities but rather the teachings that they promote. Of course, in bringing to light teachings that are in contradiction to the Scriptures, various ministries and the promoters of their teachings will be identified. However, we stress that it is not individual people that is our primary concern, but their false teaching. Our concern is for the Body of Christ and the preservation of Truth and to sound an alarm for our brothers and sisters that they might discern error, reject it for what it is and choose Truth, as portrayed in the Word of God.
Contending For The Faith
We believe it to be the task of each and every individual Christian to search the Scriptures and see if what is being taught from the pulpit of their particular fellowship agrees with God’s Word. If it does not then appropriate action should be taken to remedy the situation. Of paramount importance is that the sheep of God’s pasture, the sheep that Christ sacrificed His life for, be given every opportunity to recognise the wolves in sheep's clothing that are seducing them and leading them to the slaughter.
Many times in the Bible we are commanded to prevail against false prophets, false teachers and false doctrine. We disobey the commands of Scripture if we simply sweep false teaching under the carpet.
The book of Jude, verses 3 and 4, being but one example, exhorts us,
It is also plain from the Scriptures that if we should discover false teaching being preached among the brethren, teaching that is leading the people away from the "sound doctrine which is according to godliness, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ", then we will be answerable to God if we knowingly withhold that information from His people, our brothers and sisters in Christ. God reveals these things to His watchmen and they are accountable to take that information and warn His people - regardless of how unpleasant that duty might be (for the Watchman or his hearers) and despite the consequences.
Listen carefully to the words of the Lord in Proverbs 24, verses 10 through to 12, and allow them to reveal the heart of God in this serious matter.
What Will Be Your Response?
Some things that we will bring to light in the writings posted to, and linked to this site will no doubt be received by some with unbelief, skepticism and perhaps even anger, but we make no excuses. Remember that we are warned in Scripture that in the ‘last days’ there will be influential preachers feeding us ‘myths’ in place of Truth and that a multitude will thankfully receive these myths because they appeal to what their ‘itching ears’ want to hear.
2 Timothy 4:1-5 reads,
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”
If your reaction to our sounded alarm, the information that will be made available, is such (unbelief, skepticism or anger), then we encourage you to check that what we are saying is true or false. We have no secret motives or hidden agendas. We are not out to build an empire or draw followers away after ourselves (as has been suggested).
If we be found to be true then we would encourage you to prayerfully seek the face of God and search His Word as to what He would have you do.
If we be found to be false in what we present for your evaluation and action, then tell us so. We are contactable at my E-mail address shown at the bottom of this page.
A Little Leaven.....
The situation that currently prevails in the Church of Jesus Christ has not happened overnight. In 2 Peter 2:1-3 we have been informed and warned that there will be false teachers raised up among us who will secretly introduce destructive heresies. Through my searching for truth in God’s Word, in historical literature and other writings I have found that the Church is under a strong and destructive influence from teachings that originated, at least in the last century, progressing up to today and currently being propagated by members of the ‘Word of Faith Movement’ and the the ‘Vineyard Movement’ and their associates, in particular.
I emphasise that we are not out to attack the people who follow these movements (and others not mentioned) but, where necessary, to bring the teachings of their leaders into the open and have the light of the gospel expose any error that might be contained therein. There are today numerous ministries that are promoting gross error and the unwary receive it with thanks. They are preaching messages that sound good but are in fact leaven that needs to be purged, as Jesus clearly warns.
Again we encourage you, check your Bible to see if what we say is true or false. If what we bring forth is true then denounce the error, purge it from your understanding of God’s Word, receive the truth and move on in your walk with God.
Continuing to accept wrong teaching has horrendous consequences upon our relationship with the Lord. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 warns us that if we refuse to believe and love the truth, God Himself will send a powerful delusion so that we will accept false teaching rather than truth.
Let the Lamp of God’s Word reveal the straight path for your feet to walk upon.
