International recognition of Dave Dallwitz quickly followed. The American jazz magazine Down Beat described the Ern Malley Jazz Suite as "a beautiflul, brilliant piece of eccentricity". On his solo piano album Waltzing Matilda (1973). the legendary jazz pianist Earl "Father" Hines included the Dallwtiz composition Willochra Haze. In 1974, Hines paid tribute to the Australian composer by recording a complete solo 'piano album of Dallwitz compositions, entitled Piano Portraits o fAustralia. In 1975, the New Orleans pianist Armand Hug recorded two Dallwitz corn positions-Eucla 1.5mph and Portrait ofAdeMonse5ou,gh_.jn his solo album, Huggin The Keys. Many bands have recorded the popular Dallwitz composition Cinderella Girl in Australia and abroad.

Along with a handful of other Australian composers Roger and Graeme Bell, Ade Monsbourgh and others who worked together in the 'forties-Dave Dallwitz can take credit for enabling Australian jazz to develop its own unique idiom, laying the basis for the traditional jazz movement which still flourishes strongly today.
