Strivectin and Strivectin-SD
The Fraud of Klein-Becker's Stretch Mark "Cure."
Every couple of years a skin care product manufacturer manages to stoop so low they attract the attention of both fair trade and regulatory drug bodies.
Ironically enough its these same cure-all products that become (at least for a while) the most popular. Women are generally not discriminating or educated consumers when it comes to beauty products, choosing to believe, verbally regurgitate (and pay for) the opinions and products pushed by glossy magazines and the manufacturers which guarantee their existence.
Strivectin's various products (Strivectin-SD, Eye Cream, HC Hand Cream, NE Nano Exfoliant, HS Serum) are all prime examples of baseless cosmetics trying to pass themselves off as drugs that change the structure or function of the skin.
Strivectin-SD costs around $240, but you can find it for up to half that if you're willing to do business with shady suppliers or risk obtaining expired product (hint: stay away from Canadian and Asian importers and determine if the product comes direct from the manufacturer/local importer).
But all that's a moot point because irrespective of price and use-by date, Strivectin's products are based on the same ingredients found in Olay Regenerist a product not proven clinically effective on wrinkles and available for far less. Stretch mark "removal" is therefore naturally out of the question.
Studies which purport to cite Strivectin's effectiveness are not made available and don't relate to the formula publically available only to a single ingredient available in a many other products.
No surprise then that multiple government bodies are now taking action against Klein-Becker.
Prosecuted or not, the makers (who have previously been ordered by the US Federal Drug Administration to stop producing the dangerous weight loss pill "Ephedra" (active ingredient ephedrine alkaloids)), can well afford to pay any fines they may incur.... in spite of the bad publicity and widespread dissatisfaction with the formula, consumers have made it the most lucrative brand (by dollar amount grossed) in US department stores.
A few years from now, many of those same consumers, again dissatisfied, will probably fall hook, line and sinker for the next glam breakthrough product pushed by salons and department stores.
