Skinceuticals Serum 20

Skinceuticals Serum 20 provides maximum stable, absorbable topical Vitamin C as ascorbic acid.

Vitamin C has been shown to prevent premature aging in skin, to stimulate collagen production and to diminish the appearance of lines, wrinkles and, pertinently, broken capillaries associated with rosacea, sun damage or hereditary.

In order to be effective, a topical Vitamin C formulation must contain a high concentration of ascorbic acid – an ingredient which is difficult to stabilize at high concentrations.

Skinceuticals Serum 20 is a 20% concentration of stable Vitamin C.

This highest concentration of stable Vitamin C available has been formulated to deliver the maximum benefit from the ingredient.

• By comparison, most topical Vitamin C antioxidant serums do not contain l-ascorbic acid;
• Do not contain high enough levels of Vitamin C to be effective (or do not retain a useful concentration long beyond a week after opening);
• Have unstable pH, or are not formulated at the right pH to beging with, preventing their absorption and effectiveness to varying degrees.

A concentration of 25% is less well absorbed than a concentration of 20%.

Patients undergoing rosacea treatment should be on a carefully designed program that is monitored regularly by a dermatologist or trained skin treatment specialist.
