Azelaic acid is an effective and relatively easy treatment for the inflammatory bumps and lesions characteristic of mild to moderate rosacea, with or without demodex mite involvement.

Azelaic acid is applied topically and is available in cream and emulsion formulations. Both are completely absorbed. Read more about correct usage for the best results when treating rosacea.

To begin with, conservative use is recommended (say once every second day in the evening), increasing the frequency of application to give skin time to adjust.
