Combination Antibiotic Agents - Topical Acne Treatment

Multiple antibiotics may be used in combination, such as elythromycin and benzoyl peroxide (applied to the acne patient at the same time from two containers or as the single product Benzamycin).

No commercially available acne treatment combination product for clindamycin is available, but one may exist in the near future.

Combination acne products such as Benzamycin should be considered only for acne patients who use topical medications rapidly.

For acne patients who use these treatment agents sparingly or intermittently, the benzoyl peroxide destroys the other antibiotic, rendering the agent ineffective.

Another acne therapy, such as a topical retinoid agent, may be added to a regimen of topical acne antibiotics.
