Free software

Speedmatch is a tile matching/memory game for Mac OS X (Tiger). Take a look at it here.

Metronome is, er, a metronome for Mac OS X Tiger and Panther and is now also a Universal Binary, meaning it will run 'natively' on both Intel and PPC Macs. Metronome mimics real world clockwork metronomes closely, except that you can go as fast or as slow as you like, you can operate it via easy keyboard shortcuts, and you can change the sounds it uses. Take a look at it here.

Ron's scripts

Just some scripts and stuff that I've written that help me when using various software. Each script is free and editable.

copy selection to folder…
This script copies the selection in the Finder (could be any number of items) to a folder that you then choose. When the dialog comes up, you can choose to make a new folder if you want, or just pick an existing folder.

move selection to folder…
This script is the same as 'copy selection to folder…' except it doesn't copy the files, just moves them to any folder that you designate. (Of course, if you move them from a CD or disk image, then they will be copied.)

move selection to new folder
This script moves all the selected files to a new untitled folder in the same folder

Make alias of selection in…
Does what it says. This is handy because it cuts out having to make an alias and then move it to where you want it. Just select an item, choose a folder, and you're done. Also, the resulting alias doesn't have "alias" appended to it's name.

fileNames to text file on desktop
This script will make a list of any files or files and folders in any folder that you choose and puts it in a text file on your desktop. I find this handy if I want to burn an audio CD and I want a list of the songs to go on the cover. I don't have to type them out in my layout program, just import them or copy/paste them in.

image file info
This script gets some info for an image file without having to open it in Photoshop or whatever you use. It tells you the image's pixel height and width, dpi, and actual (print) size. It will work on a selected image file in the Finder, or if there is no selection, will prompt you to choose an image file. You can also choose to have the resulting info put on the clipboard. If you don't want to loose what's already on your clipboard, then choose 'Don't copy info' in the first dialog.

Cleanup doc(s)...
This is a script to use in BBEdit. It corrects the number of spaces around words and between sentences, and replaces ligatures with their character equivalents.

iTunes playlist to text file
This script makes a text file of the track names of an iTunes playlist. Handy if you're making a CD cover for a playlist you burn to CD from iTunes.

These scripts work on my machine running OS X 10.3.4. I don't know if they'll work on anything else. I use the first two fairly often; often enough to have keyboard shortcuts for them in iKey. (cmd-opt-c for the copy one, and cmd-opt-m for the move one) The others I just run from the Script menu.
