"Dancer" is shown above with Lesley at home in Bowral, NSW, where she has

joined the other Moonshadow Belgians in the Moonshadow dog show team.

Her pedigree name, Dancing Bear, is in honour of our beloved girl, Mashiara Moonshadow, or "Shadow", whom we long referred to as "Mrs Bear". Shadow had a very successful show career, gaining her Australian Championship title and amassing 579 Challenge points prior to her retirement in mid-1999. Her biggest victory was winning Challenge Bitch and Runner-up Best of Breed in the face of very strong competition and with a Belgian judge at the Sydney Royal Show in April, 1997.  Sadly, Shadow passed away in December, 2010 at the age of 16 (see Shadow's Vale.)  "Dancer" has been following in her paw prints in the show ring.

Shadow was the start of Moonshadow Kennels, which was named after her. In 1997, Shadow became the mother of our first litter, giving birth to five lovely puppies, two boys - Zulu and Mali, and three girls - Peppercorn, Bumble-Bee and Pixie.

Shown below, Dancing Bear and "Mrs Bear" Shadow (then 14 years of age)

getting to know each other at home, in mid-December, 2008.

Dancer has since had a successful show career. In recent successes, she won 3 Best Australian Bred Working Dog awards in a row at the Bemboka shows in November, 2011, Runner-up Best exhibit in the Working Dog Group at the Kangaroo Valley show in February, 2012, Best of Breed at the Canberra Royal Show also in February, 2012, and Best in Show at the March 2012 Belgian Shepherd Dog Club of Queensland Open Show.

Below are two of the official 2012 Canberra Royal Show photos

of Dancer as Best of Breed winner

Other recent pictures of Dancer were taken at her 3rd Birthday party on 16 September, 2011.  She is shown below with friend Dream

and “daddy” Rob, and of course her Birthday cake.

The next set of pictures of Dancer were taken at her 2nd Birthday party on 16 September, 2010. Some of our favourites are included below (and yes, that is the 16 year old Shadow in the background in the final photo).

We were very pleased when with her Best of Breed win at the Goulburn show on 1 November 2009, Dancer reached the 100 Challenge Points total necessary for her to gain the Australian Champion title. Her title was officially awarded on 18 December, 2009.  Congratulations Dancer!

Some of the show highlights along the way are summarised below.

At the Penrith Dstrict show on 28 August, 2009, little Dancer won Best Puppy Working Dog and she again won this the following weekend at the ACT Junior Kennel Club show in Canberra.

On 8 May, 2009 in Newcastle,  our little Dancer was awarded Best Minor Puppy in the Working Dog Group at both the Newcastle & Northern District Kennel Club and the Northern All Breeds Kennel Club shows!  Shown below are some pictures of Dancer taken on the day by Ashley Hoffman. Thanks Ash!

We were delighted when Dancer won Best Baby in the Working Dog Group at the Tarago Show on 15 March, 2009, and even more pleased when she went on to be awarded the Best Baby Puppy in Show Ribbon!

Shown below is Dancer with our other puppy Dream, also a big winner at Tarago.

The next two pictures show Dancer at the Penrith Kennel & Obediance Club show on 10 January, 2009. Although Dancer was well behaved at this, her first Show, her brother Arry, shown further below, won out to gain the Best Baby Puppy in Group award. However, we are pleased to report that at her second show, at Dapto on 17 January, 2009, Dancer won 1st place in the 3-6 Months Sweepstakes, with an entry of 27 dogs.  Congratulations Dancer!

The next pictures below, taken in late December 2008, show Dancer on a visit to her brother Arry.  They had great fun running through the grass, wrestling and even going for a swim.  (Dancer is the smaller one in the pictures!)
