Moonshadow Belgian Shepherds, Australia Highlights
of 2007 Moonshadow Belgian Shepherds had an active and successful year
during 2007, setting a new "personal best" of 544 Challenge Points
earned at dog shows during the year. At the beginning of 2007,
our two new puppies, Moonshadow Black Magic and Moonshadow Avalon were only 2 months old and yet to begin
their show careers. By November, 2007,
both received their Australian Champion titles. The rules for this award now require not
only a total of at least 100 Challenge Points, but at least 25 of these
points must be earned while over the age of 1 year. We were very pleased that
both Avalon and Magic achieved this within three weeks of their first
birthdays! A Magic
Year It was an especially good
year for our young boy, Magic. On the
way to his title, he achieved first place in the 6-12 months olds sweepstakes
on six occasions - including 4 times in a row at the Tullamore Shows. As he grew up in the Working Dog Ring, he was
awarded Best Baby Puppy twice, then Best Minor Puppy twice, Best Puppy three
times and finally towards the end of the year, Best Junior. He was also
awarded Runner Up Best Exhibit in the Working Dog Group at the age of only 9
months. Magic somewhat over-shadowed
the solid performance of his litter sister, Avalon, who nevertheless achieved
her title on the same day as Magic, and won two Best Junior in the Working
Dog Group awards on her way. Our
Veteran Boys - Paco and Zulu Paco, who turned 10 in December, 2007, also showed very
strongly. At various times, he was
placed first, second and third in Veteran's Sweepstakes, and in November was
judged the Best Open Class Exhibit in the Working Dog Group. We were particularly proud of him winning
Best of Breed Tervueren at the Sydney Royal Easter
Show in April, and winning Reserve Challenge Tervueren
Dog at the Specialty Show of the Belgian Shepherd Dog Club of NSW, under
well-know Belgian specialist judge, Firmin Aertgeerts. Overall, Paco
racked up 247 Challenge Points during the year, quite a feat for a Veteran! It was a quieter year for
our other Veteran, Moonshadow Zulu Magician, who
also turned 10. Although he competed successfully early in the year, after
April he passed his magician's wand on to our young boy Moonshadow
Black Magic, who is learning to use it well. Overall, we enjoyed our
year in and around the showring. We met some nice
people and renewed acquaintances with old friends, and our dogs gave us much
to be proud of! Comments, questions or like more information? Email
