Among the great Johnsonian "sacred sites" is the house inGough Square, London, where the Great Lexicographer wrote his Dictionary.Funds raised from Johnsonians contribute substantially to the upkeep ofthe house. Australian Johnsonians might soon have the opportunity to joinan organisation called "Australian Friends of Dr Johnson's House",the formation of which John Byrne is now investigating. Its purpose willbe also to raise funds for the London house. John says there will be lowadministration costs and special privileges for donors. Donations mightalso be tax-deductible.
