Johnsonian honor for Fred Nicholls

The Curator of the Johnson Birthplace Museum, Dr Fred Nicholls, hasbeen elected President of the Johnson Society. Fred is well known by manyvisitors to the Museum in Lichfield for his friendly approach and his greatknowledge of his subject. Fred, who has been Curator of the BirthplaceMuseum since 1973, was Literary Secretary of the Johnson Society from 1974to 1989, and has been a Governor of the Johnson House Trust since 1996.He has also been a member of the Literature Panel of the Arts Council ofGreat Britain and is chairman of the Vale of Trent Tourist Association.Fred's most recent Johnsonian interest has been working with BirminghamUniversity on an edition of Johnson's Dictionary, especially on the sourcesof the quotation..
