Annual General Meeting, September 13 1997
MINUTES
President's Report
The President reported that membership was now close to 100 and growing
steadily. The annual seminar had been very successful, and the newsletter
had continued to be published regularly. He announced that, in accordance
with the Constitution, he would be retiring at this meeting.
Treasurer's Report
The Treasurer's Report and Financial Statement, in line with the decision
to run the Society's financial year from July 1 to June 30, began with
the balance as given last year at the end of August and ended with June
30 1997.
Although the Society continues to live within its means, the greatest expense,
which is difficult to meet, is the production and porinting of the Annual
Lecture. The Society might be forced to consider a less lavish style of
production and to produced a much more limited number of our publications.
The Treasurer stated that the present annual subscription of $20 with a
concession of $10, barely covers expenses and should be increased to $25
and $15 respectively.
The amount in credit for the Society at August 31, 1997 was $1583.84.
Moved by Bryan Reid, seconded by Paul brown that the Treasurer's Report
be adopted. Carried.
Annual Subscriptions
Moved by Greg Veitch, seconded by Paul Tankard, that the annual subscription
be increased to $25, concession $15. Carried
Committee
With the retirement of Clive Probyn as President, two vacancies on
the committee were created.
Moved by Don Dunlop, seconded by Carla Hawley that Bronwen Hickman be elected
to the committee. Carried. Moved by Don Dunlop, seconded by Bronwen Hickman,
that Paul Tankard be elected to the committee. Carried.
Editor
Moved by Clive Probyn, seconded by Jack Nystrom that Paul Tankard be
confirmed as Editor for the Society. Carried.
President
Moved by Bryan Reid, seconded by Don Dunlop that Paul Brown be elected
President. Carried.
Vice President
Moved by Clive Probyn, seconded by Greg Veitch that Kevin Hart be elected
Vice-President. Carried.
Clive Probyn then vacated the chair which was resumed by Paul Brown. The
official President's Tie was also exchanged.
Vote of Thanks
A vote of thanks to Clive Probyn for his term as President was proposed
by Don Dunlop, seconded by Jack Nystrom, and was carried by acclamation.
