RECENT EVENTS
Sunday 20 July Mid-year 'Focus on Youth' Soirée for players under 25 – Ewing Memorial Church, cnr Burke Road and Coppin Street, Malvern East. Melway 59 G12.  We are particularly inviting performers under 25 to present pieces at this soirée - though it is by no means closed to older players.  Part of the reason is that in July the Ensemble Mikado, a group of three young players, will be visiting Melbourne with their teacher.   Ensemble Mikado are looking for opportunities to play and perform with other young players and we are delighted to invite all of them to perform at this soirée.
If you would like to sign up, Liz Zetzmann is the person to contact  (03) 98078797.
Sunday 22 June Early music blow with the Early Music Society of Victoria, , 2 – 5 pm
Moorleigh Community Centre, Bignell Road, East Bentleigh Melway 78 B5.  John Rechter is coordinating this blow-in with members of the Early Music Society.   We’ll be playing seventeenth century polychoral works; EMS members will bring viols (tuned to 440) and a range of wind instruments to join our recorders.  John is happy to share the conducting, so if you would be interested in leading one of the works at this blow-in, please let Kate know (tel 0403 108 215, or email recorderplayers@gmail.com).
The music is likely to require a full range of instruments from soprano through to contrabass, so do bring all your instruments – there will be lots of parts.  As usual, please also bring $5 and your music stand, and a contribution to afternoon tea.
NOTE: This venue will probably be new to most of us.  It is  the Moorleigh U3A campus (the former Moorleigh Secondary College) next door to Moorleigh Primary School, in Bignell Road, off South Road, near Warrigal Road.  Free parking front and back, all facilities are on the ground floor.  We’ll have signs to show you where to go.
