The Instant Guild Library CD-ROM
What is the Instant Guild Library?
How Do I Get My Article On Future Versions?
I'm currently distributing version 1.1 of the Instant Guild Library, and that's the version I've been circulating since June 2004. Version 1.0 was released in July 2003. The Instant Guild Library is a collection of all the files collected by Richard Cullinan (Guildmaster ibn Jelal) that have a vague association with the fencing activities of the Royal Guild of Defence. All the material found here was freely available on the internet, and all copyright resides with the respective authors. Richard makes no money from this CD-ROM, he just covers the cost of production. Nearly all of the material here has been made available for research purposes only, so if you wish to make money off any of the contents, please contact the respective authors. Please do not alter the contents without their express written permission.
The main purpose for having the CD-ROM is to circulate material freely available on the internet, to those that don't have the ability to download this information easily. Regardless of whether you have broadband access or not, this is an easier way to get all the files in one easy place, without having to try and download the lot yourself.
I'd like to thank the authors of all the material contained herein. Please note that my main reason for doing this is to spread the knowledge. In my own way I'm trying to help develop the knowledge base for Historical Fencing.
Most of the material on this CD-ROM requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded for free from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
The CD can be ordered directly from Richard Cullinan. The cost of the CD is $5 if hand delivered, or $7 if posted. Please note all prices are in Australian Dollars.

Please make all cheque and Money Orders out to "Richard Cullinan". Contact me if you wish to pay by direct deposit.
The Instant Guild Library will be an ongoing project. As future material becomes available on the Internet, I'll be compiling it for addition to the Library. Depending on the volume of material being added, I expect to see a new version come out roughly every 6-12 months, but I make no guarantees about that time frame. The easiest way to find out is to subscribe to the Lochac Fencers list, as I'll be announcing the release of new versions on that list.
I welcome article submissions from any authors. If you wish to see your article circulated, please contact me at the address listed in Ordering Information, and I'll let you know about formats etc. However, I'm not doing this for money, so I can't pay you any royalties. All I can pay you in is the undying gratitude of the historical fencing research community. You will retain all copyright privileges, all I ask for is permission to circulate the article in the CD-ROM. (Similarly, if you see your article listed here, and want it removed, please contact me at the address above.)
So what sort of material am I looking for? In a nutshell, anything related to Historical Fencing. Anything similar to what's in the index, such as how to make equipment, will of course be acceptable. New translations, facsimiles or explanations of fencing manuals will be accepted. Articles about fencing history, or period fencing ettiquette etc will be accepted. One of the future projects I'm hoping to get into the Library is digital movies showing period fencing techniques. Anything along these lines is what I'm looking for. Contact me if you want to discuss your ideas with me.
The index for version 1.1 can be found at www.ozemail.com.au/~rcull/Guild_Library_v1-1.htm.
