Rob, your guide

Hi. I'm Rob, and I'd like to be your guide to Jenolan Caves. I love this place and run this website as a hobby so please don't confuse it with the official website for Jenolan, which is www.jenolancaves.org.au.
As you explore this site you will discover that Jenolan is more than just caves. Every now and then I'll pop up to pass on what I consider to be some great tips to help you enjoy your stay even more.

The number one question I get is how to find your way to Jenolan. In answer to this question I now have a separate page on Google Pages which allows you to get driving directions from your home town, produces a map from your hom to the caves, allows you to check the weather at Katoomba for the next five days (nearest Met Bureau reporting location to the caves) as well as check a webcam at Katoomba. You can even check a satellite photo of the area. If this page doesn't get you to the caves then maybe you need to catch a bus. School students can use this to make their own map of where the caves are as well Click here to get to Jenolan

This website will soon be replaced CLICK HERE if you want to see it taking shape

Lots more photos, maps, videos. Expect broken links but a rewarding experience

Jenolan Ghost Tour
Some years ago I wrote a book about the various odd things that have happened at Jenolan which we talk about on the Ghost Tour. The Trust didn't want to publish it and it has sat on my computer ever since. Now, you can read all of those tales just by clicking this link.

Keep informed about what is happening at Jenolan

No Petrol at Jenolan Caves
Intending visitors to the caves should note that you can not purchase petrol at Jenolan. The nearest available petrol can be purchased at either Mt Victoria, Lithgow or Oberon.
Caving at Jenolan

Visitors to Jenolan should be advised that it is illegal to go exploring the caves except when accompanied by a guide or if a permit has been issued by the Trust. Permits are generally issued to recognised speleological societies. The club I belong to is the Sydney Speleological Society. You can check out their website by clicking here
Pets at Jenolan
Please note that Jenolan Caves is a nature reserve and as such you can not bring your pets to the caves. Regardless, it is unfair to your pets to leave them locked in the car whilst you go off underground.

Jenolan Newsletter

I am forever thinking up extra things that I would like to include on this website but there just isn't the space to include it all. for that reason I run a newsletter on the caves. To see the latest edition just click on this link. If you would like to subscribe to the newsletter you can send your email address and you will be notified of new newsletters as well as being able to communicate with other people about Jenolan Caves. Note that your email address is not used for any other purpose than for sending out notices about the newsletter or other Jenolan activities. It is most definitely not a spamming service! Take a Web Based Cave Tour

Jenolan Photos

Have you been to Jenolan, shot lots of film and then discovered your photos didn't work out? Don't despair because there is a chance you can still show your friends what you witnessed at Jenolan. Follow this link to the Jenolan Photo Library. You are also able to upload some of your favourite photos so others can see what a wonderful time you had! Note that whilst it is okay to take photos at Jenolan you are not able to take a tripod through the caves. If you want some tips and ideas on how to take better photos when you come to Jenolan, click here.

School Resource Kit

This kit was released recently and is an excellent resource for schools. Quite a number of Australia's leading speleologists have contributed material to this kit which includes fact sheets on lots of cave related subjects, an activity book, and a large poster. Click here to find out more.

Brochure Requests

I am forever getting requests from people for brochures. I can't send you a brochure because I just run this site as a hobby. If you want brochures you need to ask for them from the businesses that run the place. To get brochures about the caves, tours, and special requirements, email the Trust by using this link. On the other hand, if you need a brochure on accommodation, email Caves House with this link.
