What is Packafied?

Packafied stands for Package File Editor.
It is an application that edits any sort of Package file. Package files are files that hold smaller files within them, and are used in many games. Examples include Doom WAD files, Quake PAK files, Descent HOG and MVL files.

Packafied is useful for opening games add-ons, such as HOG files and checking what is inside of them. Often, they can contain MIDIs and Graphics that can be extracted individually. Packafied can view some of these files, and can use any program that you already have view or edit them.

Features

Written in Java. This means Packafied runs on any platform that has a Java Virtual Machine written for it.
Reads many different package file formats, including Descent HOG files, Doom WAD files, Quake PAK files and zip files.
Has the ability to use plug-ins. HFD files, which are text files describing a package file's format, and Loaders, which are Java Class files, can be used to further extend Packafied's knowledge of package file formats.
Has the ability to run external programs on files contained in package files (such as a graphics editor) without ever having to extract the file! It's just like editing a file that exists in a normal directory!
