About Montenero Pointers

 Dougal

Montenero Kennels were established in Canberra, Australia's capital, in 1965. Our first Pointer litter, registered in 1970, was the first litter of the breed to be registered by the Canberra Kennel Association (CKA - now ACTCA). The foundation bitch was Ch. Lucknow Lilla and in 1973 a litter from Lilla sired by Dual Ch Isle of Arran Poker of Crookrise (Imp.UK) ("Poker") marked the beginning of the Montenero line of field trial winners which continues today. Poker was the CKA's first Field Trial Champion and Dual Champion. In 1984 we moved to a property at Murrumbateman, NSW, and our prefix was transferred to the NSW Canine Council.

Bruno is a dedicated Pointer trainer and is always happy to try to help other Pointer owners with training problems or any questions they may have relating to dogwork.

We usually have a litter only when we need a replacement Pointer for ourselves. However, enquiries from pointer enthusiasts are always welcome.

We seek to promote the dual purpose Pointer - one whose conformation meets the standard as closely as possible, and which works in classic style.
