Can you recognise the Australian city from the drawings of weather shown above? 1. Visit: http://weather.yahoo.com (a) Record the information in a table about your capital city’s current weather conditions and forecast conditions.
(b) Look at the satellite photograph and movie of the satellite photograph. 2. Revisit: http://weather.yahoo.com (a) Construct a table to record the current weather for one location ( city) in each region of the world.
b) Next mark your cities on a world map. 3. URL : http://www.bom.gov.au Visit the Bureau of Metereology at this site. (a) Is this site more or less useful than http://weather.yahoo.com for finding out about your nearest capital city’s current and forecast weather conditions? Give reasons for your answer. (b) Does this site give information for other world regions/cities? (c) Summarise ( give a brief description of ) the information available from this site. 4. Use the search term " (capital city) weather" eg "Adelaide weather" in a Search Engine to search out sites giving information about your city’s weather. (a) Write out each address you found. Visit each site and (b) Write a brief summary of the information available from each site. (c) Say how useful and informative you found the site, giving reasons for your comments. 5. (a) Use the sites and search engines to complete the grid. Then decide which capital city of Australia has the best weather this week. Explain your answer.
