Australia's Tourist Regions
Introduction
Australia has many unusual places in terms of landforms, plants, animals, built environments and general landscape. Many overseas tourists may want
to visit these places if they are well presented in tourist brochures.
The Task
You are about to advertise an Australian tourist region. Your job will be to research and write a tourist brochure about your chosen region.
1. Choose a tourist region and create a tourist brochure for it. Use information from the Web, photographs, books, encyclopaedias, and existing tourist
brochures.
2. Your brochure can be completed on an A4 sheet of paper folded into three sections to form six pages:
3. Title
4. Map of the region
5. Sketches or pictures
6. Facts about the region, including history, natural and built features
7. Reasons why people should visit the region
8. Information about the climate and the items visitors would need to take.

The Process
To accomplish your task, you will need to carry out the following steps:
1) Decide on a region.
2) Decide how tasks will be carried out.
3) Locate resources. Use your Internet sources. Check magazines newspapers, pamphlets for information.
4) ake notes on the note taking sheet. Your notes should be in point form.
5) Cite sources of information used.
Presentation: - Follow the task guidelines. Your map must be clearly
drawn with: border, title, legend, scale, direction. Pictures must have
a caption.
Evaluation - What did you do well? What could you improve?
Assessment
You will be assessed on the following criteria:
1. Accurate and brief note-taking
2. Bibliography of 3 sources
3. Presentation of brochure including map, pictures and written work.
Conclusion
At the end of this activity you should have accomplished or learned the
following:
1. Identified the source of data and decided how the data will be used.
2. Described places according to their location and natural and built features.
3. Explained how people's use of natural and built features of a place
changes over time.
4. Described how natural features such as climate can affect how people
react to particular places.
