watershed glazed earthenware, sand, oxide, clay, water
Pip McManus talks about this work
Over the past decade my art practice has been primarily concerned with our relationship as social beings with our environment, wherever that may be - both on a personal and universal level. In particular I am interested in the way in which new media and technologies are constantly reshaping our (sub-conscious) views of daily rituals. In a contemporary, technology obsessed world perceived through the lens of lightning edits and media grabs the natural rhythms of organic systems are often pushed to the verge of collapse before we are willing to take notice. Without having abandoned my traditional medium, ceramics, I am increasingly drawn to employing other media in order communicate to a wider audience.
