Toona australis - Red Cedar

Below - the fruits of this majestic Australian rainforest tree. Each leaf consists of many leaflets with prominent veins. The tree is deciduous, and flowers in spring after new growth appears.

Below - The bottom trunk of the Red Cedar, showing the flanges radiating out above ground from the trunk. These become more prominent as the tree gets older, as you can see the irrigation hose has been forced upwards over time. This tree is about 15 years old.
