The Airships at Cardington in Bedford.

In 1924, the British Air Ministry decided to build two airships, each with a volume of five million cubic feet. This was to be the start of a world wide airship service.

In 1971, I visited RAF Cardington in Bedfordshire to see the launch of the Good Year blimp "Europa". It was the first for the skies of Europe.

In 2001, 30 years later, I re-visited Cardington and saw a new type of airship undergoing testing and development. The tiny prototype "Skykitten" and the larger "Skycat".
