Every Sunday at 2pm to 4pm, all children are invited to join in with
Sunday Dhamma School to learn more about how Buddhism can help in our
everyday lives. Chanting in Pali and a short meditation is held at the
beginning of each session to train students in calmness and
concentration - key factors to one's peace and happiness. The Pali
Chanting can be downloaded on the right.
The chanting and meditation is usually followed by a lesson about the
Dhamma [the teachings of The Buddha]. Younger and older students are
often divided, the older students attending 'Sunday Dhamma University',
where they are able to delve deeper into the more advanced teachings of
The Buddha.
Sunday Dhamma School also holds many excursions, performs
at various events [with the Lao cultural instruments],
organizes different projects and participates in various other retreats
and activities throughout the year. Such include combined Vesak
celebration at Circular Quay, CAMParadise at Nan Tien Temple, retreats
at Sunnataram Forest Monastery Bundanoon and Interfaith Peace Festival.
Sunday Dhamma School is run and supported by volunteers and is
completely free of charge. Parents of Sunday Dhamma School are always
there to give generously, providing afternoon tea for the students each
Sunday!
