Over 40 years experience in industry and academia. Early career with: ICI Aust, Shell Refining, Mt Lyell Mining Co.; later consultant & academic with close liaison to chemical processing industry.

Consultant in process engineering and chemical technology. Experience in minerals processing, R&D management, laboratory management, process engineering, essential oils extraction, advanced-level teaching, OH&S-fire and explosion safety, chemicals industry, wine and food technology, high-pressure engineering, water and waste-water treatment, batch-scale bio-diesel plant design and commissioning.

Over 50 consultant reports and 70 scientific publications in: refereed journals, conference proceedings, monographs, book chapters, invited papers, encyclopaedia and scientific reports.

Good appreciation of competing economic, technical and safety constraints. Particular expertise in flow-sheeting, process modelling, heat-transfer equipment and design, computer techniques, high-pressure technology, small-scale plant commissioning.

International recognition in high-pressure extraction technology, multi-component phase equilibria, fire and explosion safety. Experience and sensitivity working in non-English speaking and non-western cultures.
