The Weird and Wonderful V2 Patch Posted By: giskard Date: 18 Dec 2000, 23:40 Hello :) Well i just finished playing with the V2 Patch and after an hour of tracking down all my factories, lifters and fighters i renamed all those i could find. The factories used to make me around 500,000 credits per session (on a good night). Now im making 150,000 from those very same factories. A session to me is anywhere between an hour and 6 hours. Prices seem to have doubled in some cases too. Only one weird event, One of my lifters got shot down by a solar factory hehe, I guess the game is reporting those little accidents correctly now at least. The 200,000 price tag on a lifter with 2x5mw shields is very steep I think for what they do. It is ok for me because i have 28+ factories churning out profits to buy those with but some poor guy that just started the game will now have more trouble earning the profits than before. Looking at silicon mines, the profit seemed to be within the same range eg 100 credits but the price was 100 credits higher too. I have not tried the solar stuff yet because i lost loads of them before but the readme and the website info about them does not fill me with confidence that they will be worth building now. IF anybody does build one, let me know if you make a profit from it as the crystals have gone up too. I am not sure that such a huge price increase across the board was needed. I will have to look into better but I assumed the V2 patch with increase the fluctuation of the factory prices there by making it easyier to find goods for less and sell for more. It is bias towards factory owners now, i can see that. It's worth having a few factories now compared to just the one ship. The TL Freighters are expensive but Hay, im not complaining. I have 2000,000 credites saved up towards one already. Dispite the wierd shift 0 not working at first and the global settings option looking like an information line rather than an actual option you can change. Then it only changes for the selected ship until you release not to select anything when using it. Confusing I know. To make global settings work... Easy of use I would say the few minor problems figure out some of the new options are well out out weighed by the new galaxy/best buyers/docked menu options. On the whole a dam fine patch I think. The bitchiness your bound to hear for a few days is from the few minor points mentioned above I think. Good Well all you at Egosoft and the beta testers on a dam fine job. Giskard Command to all Landed ships: Set homebase too........ That is all that i can find that is missing from the new patch so far. Buy your new ships for your factory. Command all.... new home base is....Trade can be done on a per ship basis. I like it the way it is. Now you know getting the resources together is a slow job so I thought 9 of these babies would do it very quickly then after that id leave 6 there to top it up as it needs more. Then we have the TL stuff which i have just managed to get. 5 hours on Seta waiting for my factories to earn enough to buy the 16,000 credit one hehe cool stuff. Giskard 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile Posted By: Bazza Date: 18 Dec 2000, 22:02 After engaging a few (10 or more) pirates near a pirate base, feeling mighty cocky in my Argon Elite with full shields (2x25MW), I was kicking some serious butt, when some amrt arse launched a wasp missile at me. I didn't care much and kept fighting (not consciously weaving around) and got hit by the missile. At the time my shields were full and BANG... THE END!.... I would have thought I could take a couple of wasp hits. Next time I found myself just doing missile avoidance whenever I heard one was approaching. Problem was, with 10 pirates around, there's now always one approaching. What missile evasion tactics do people use? I was hoping the 2x25MW shields would offer more protection! Re: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile Posted By: Erazor Date: 18 Dec 2000, 22:05 In Response To: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile (Bazza) that wasn't a wasp missile... if its chunky it could be a silkworm or hornet... pirates do carry those!! i know i've had to dodge a few myself, a strafe drive comes in handy in these situations! ;o) Erazor Re: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile Posted By: Bazza Date: 18 Dec 2000, 22:13 In Response To: Re: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile (Erazor) So can I take some wasp hits then?... There were a few wasps fired, but perhaps what hit me was a silkworm.... I've got a strafe drive, but whilst I'm doing missile avoidance, I'm not shooting anyone, and whilst I'm not bringing the numbers down, I keep getting missiles fired at me... Still it teaches me a lesson for provoking pirate animosity near their station without taking the station out. On another note.. I have a lot of trouble getting those damned hired TLs (mammoth) to dock at the shipyard...They say, "sure no worries...pleasure to do so...love your ship...looking good....etc etc", but just fly off.... I've got them to dock once and thats about it...Any ideas? Re: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile Posted By: Erazor Date: 18 Dec 2000, 22:17 In Response To: Re: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile (Bazza) read the threads further down the forum.... but basically only issue the commands to dock once and if it don't fly out of the system then return... check on its progree via satellite link... this should work... well thats what CC and Bala G say! Re: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile Posted By: Andreas Date: 18 Dec 2000, 22:10 In Response To: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile (Bazza) I usually fly narrow turns as missiles cannot do them so they eventually run out of fuel. Its possible Posted By: Steel Date: 18 Dec 2000, 22:11 In Response To: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile (Bazza) That u lost your shield. You can lose a shield just by being hit. I have never seen two go in one go, but it is possible that you were low on shields and then one blew. A stray *puff* would then take you out. Don't think that 2 X 25 MW shields is the be all and end all. Cos it aint. if u r being fired at. MOVE!!!!!!!! HTH ;) Steel Re: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile Posted By: Roger 1 Date: 18 Dec 2000, 23:05 In Response To: 2x25MW shield versus 1 solitary wasp missile (Bazza) > After engaging a few (10 or more) pirates near a > pirate base, feeling mighty cocky in my Argon Elite > with full shields (2x25MW), I was kicking some serious > butt, when some amrt arse launched a wasp missile at > me. I'm flying a Discoverer with only 1mw shields for a change from ships with 2x25 mw shields. What you could do with is speed - try a Prometheus or even a smaller faster ship. I must admit it would be nice to get a really fast ship with 25 mw shields though;) Roger 1 Here you are..... For SPEED and STEERING, the values are for the initial value when you buy the TL, and then the max upgrade after Engine Tunings/Rudder Opts. Cargobay size is set when you buy it, no need to get CargoBay extensions (it won't let you....) ALL TLs have 1000Mw power generators, come equipped with 1x 125Mw shields and can be upgraded to 5x 125Mw shields, NO lasers can be installed but ALL TLs can use Hornet Missiles.
