Ok, so you have accumilated your hard earned credits and are ready to buy your first factory, only problem is, that you read most likely in the old forum, and probably by now in the new one, that there is a bug.
So after hearing all the pleas again and again, i thought to make this little guide! So here it is.
Step 1. I know, your fingers are twiching, and you can't decide what factory to buy! Well sorry, that is another department all together. Hmm. Ok here goes. Go in to the sector that the shipyard is, stay near the gate, bring up the local sector chart, find the TL there, target it, and then hail it. It will ask if you need it's service, so you say yes, agree to the price, and then to follow you.
Step 2. Communicate with him again, and tell him to dock at the shipyard in the sector. PLEASE DO NOT COMMUNICATE AGAIN! as this is very important. Go out of the gate, turn on S.E.T.A., and wait for a minute or two. If you have a satellite with you, please leave it in the shipyard sector, so you can monitor if the TL has docked,(you will see that its icon of the TL is placed on the shipyard icon). If it has, it is safe to go in, dock at the shipyard, select the factory, and buy the factory.
Step 3. You are STILL N O T A L L O W E D TO CONTACT HIM!!!, as he still has the command to follow you! So now you leave the shipyard, with all joy, go to the sector that you want you new factory/mine build and wait for him to catch up. If you are to do a mine, be near the asteroid that you want, if not, select a place that will have some distance from nearby factorys, and isn't close to the edge of the map(this has also been reported once). As soon as it come in to the same sector that you are in, target it! No, you will not attack it, you only need to do this so you know the distance it has from you. When that distance is less than 5.0Km, then communicate with it, and tell him to drop your load. This is the only time that you are to talk to him after the initial hire, and telling him to dock.
Particulars: If you communicate him him because you are anxious for him to arrive at the shipyard, he will go beserk, if you communicate with him, at a distance greater than 5.0Km, when you are waiting for him, you can kiss your factory good bye:-) So the rule is: Be patiant, and all should go well!
So there you have it, the small guide to hiring a TL, to do your job.
Step 5. Now if you own your own TL, just transport yourself in it, and use the docking computer that comes with it, makes things much more easier, and the rest are as above.
