A search of Infobel, and the French telephone directories, will quickly reveal the true root of our name. For there are none of the variants of the family name apart from MONTFORT meaning a "fortified hill or mound" which is listed a plenty (Some 750 times). Not that we would be so bold  as to suggest that we are totally of French stock as a quick visit to the following page will reveal "Who were the Normans?"
