At least three families have contacted me with some details of their family history. Further submissions of information are welcome.

FAMILY ONE

James Douglas McMorran born in Bathgate emigrated with his family to South Afirca at the age of 5. His family were from the Isle of Skye. His daughter is Trish (Patricia Sheena) McMorran who currently lives in the UK.

FAMILY TWO

Garth Allister McMorran's father's father came to South African from Scotland (possibly Glasgow area).  He had four children, Edward Allister McMorran, Grace McMorran, Nellie McMorran and Allister Douglas McMorran (Garth's father).  Their father worked on the coal mines in Dundee (close to Newcastle) in Natal, South Africa.  They later moved to Krugersdorp which is about 20 kilometres west of Johannesburg where they resided until he died.

Edward married Eileen, they had three children, Alan, Mavis and Nola.  Alan has since moved back to England (not sure where).  He is in the ministry?

Grace married Robert Holton and they had two children.

Nettie married someone with the surname of Stead and they owned a hardware store in Newcastle Natal.

Allister Douglas was born in Krugersdorp on 19 October 1916.  He married Bessie Beatrice Rodwell (born in London on 19 December 1910) on 8 February
1940.  They had twins, Garth Allister and Sherrill (born on 22 December 1941).

Sherrill married Edward Pearson and they had two daughters Tracey and Leanne. Ted and Sherrill have since divorced.  Tracey is married to Fernando
Ferreira and they are farming in Hilton, Natal.  Tracey has two daughters and a son.  Leanne married Titch Jenkins and they have a son and daughter.
They are now residing in Perth Australia.  Leanne is an artist and was very well known in South Africa and the USA.  She designs cards, posters, etc,
and is very involved with Green Peace and Environmental Organisations.  From what I can gather her work has taken off very well in Australia.  I am sure
you would be able to trace her on the net too.  For work purposes she is still known as Leanne Pearson.

Garth married Deline Lombard (born 7 August 1946) on 17 February 1968.  They have two childred.  Allister Ivan (born 24 March 1970) and Melany Carmen
(born 7 June 1973).  Allister is a mechanical engineer and married Tracy Orchinson on 20 November 1999.  They are presently residing in Johannesburg.
Melany also resides in Johannesburg.  That is practically all I can tell you for the moment.  If I do find out anything else I will certainly get back to you.

Hi, my son called me to look at a website he had come across, as he has to do a project for school about a family tree. We are originally from South Africa, I have a
brother Roy who still lives there. Our father was William Robert and he too had a father called Thomas. I will contact my brother and see if I can get some more info from him.  Regards. Bruce.

FAMILY FOUR

Janet Mitchell (nee McMorran) the daughter of Ebenezer McMorran and Ann Bryden died in Johannesburg 17 July 1942 aged 84 years.
