339 Capt. Joseph PRICHARD passed away about 9 o'clock yesterday morn. The deceased was born in Liverpool, Aug. 11, 1814, and made his first voyage when he was but 14 years of age. He followed the sea for about 32 years, or until 1860, when he went into the iron business with John McMORAN, the firm largely interested in shipping. On Mr. McMoran's retirement from the business, Capt. Prichard took his son into the firm and the business was continued until about five or six years ago, when it was wound up. He has been for many years a member of the board of portwardens and also an examiner for the positions of masters and mates. His wife, who survives him, was a Miss WILLETT of Annapolis, N.S., a niece of his former employer, the late G.R. RAY. He had nine children, two of whom died when quite young. His son, Gilbert PRICHARD, who was in partnership with him, died a couple of years ago. One son now lives in New York and another in the Northwest. Of his five daughters, two are married; one of them is Mrs. SMITH of Halifax; the other is Mrs. F.S. WHITTAKER of St. John city. Capt. Prichard was a member of the Methodist denomination. 12 September 1889 D.T.
