The 3 dispensations of God

The Word of God

  • The Word of Creation - God perceived imperfectly by 'other than God'
  • The Word of Redemption - God perceived perfectly though partially within 'other than God'
  • The Word of Consummation - God perceived perfectly and fully by 'other than God'

The Second dispensation - the Word of Redemption

In Genesis 1 we read that before God spoke the Word of Creation into Otherness, the Spirit of God (the one who births the virtues, the virtues as the true hearing of God) brooded upon the face of the deep.

Again we see the joint metaphor of the brooding of the Holy Spirit on Mary, and the Holy Spirit coming down on Jesus at His Baptism.

However this time there is full assent to the Holy Spirit's birthing action, not by otherness in toto, but within otherness, and the Word is heard perfectly - the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ.

It is in this second dispensation that we who receive Him are offered rebirth as Sons of God through the Holy Spirit, and consequentlya knowledge of who God is, and a birth into the expereince of the Kingdom of God.

Joh 1:11  He came to His own, and His own received Him not. 12  But as many as received Him, He gave to them authority to become the children of God, to those who believe on His name, 13  who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but were born of God.
