The Word of God
Is the Bible the Word of God?
No, the Bible is not the Word of God, and
those who claim the Bible to
be the Word of God, have missed one of the most profound messages
contained in
the Bible.
The
Word of God is God, not the Bible.
God as He lovingly and fully gives Himself to 'other than God'
The infinitely good and loving God
does not
change - the Word of God does not change. What changes is the
way
in which in history the 'other' has known, perceived, and heard the
Word of God.
As the philosophical idealist George Berkeley
correctly understood, perception is the substratum of reality.
There are three dispensations or 'hearings'
of the
Word of God in history, three dispensations of God. All three
hearings are dependent on the activity of the Holy Spirit of God, and
the fruit of the Spirit, the Virtues.
The Word of Creation
- God perceived imperfectly by 'other than God'
The Word of Redemption
- God perceived perfectly though partially within 'other than God'
The Word of Consummation
- God perceived fully and perfectly by 'other than God'
We live within the second dispensation, and are on the verge of the
third - the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven in fullness.
