Imagine a person who is severely brain damaged.  Many of their normal functions have been lost and there appears to be no understanding of normal language.  There is however a certain presence about this person, who is alert and responsive to love and caring.

We know of cases where a person has lost eyesight and their hearing becomes more acute, I suggest that where a person has lost mental function the heart function can become more pronounced. Here we are using mental as aligning with the Word aspect of reality and heart as aligning with Spirit reality.  (See Human Reality and the Trinitarian model of reality)

Meaningful interaction between human beings is not confined to speaking words in English or any other human language.  A lover may often tell their partner to be quiet in order that interaction can be enriched!  There is communication in love that is beyond words.  Elderly couples who have a strong love relationship often can sit together in silent but meaningful interaction.

St Paul says in relation to prayer "We do not know how to pray.  The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness with groans to deep to utter".

The arts can also communicate meaningfully without words.  Gazing at the stars on a clear night or out over a panorama is also a communicative experience.

the Virtue Matrix offers those who care enough about others options for interaction that go way beyond human words.  One can truly dance with another moving from virtue to virtue within the grid.  This requires great perception formed by caring enough about the person one is interacting with without words, and loving and enjoying the Virtues.

Going back to our practical example.  The carer who is interacting with the severely brain damaged patient will often speak to them, knowing that they cannot understand the words themselves, but that they are aware of nuances beneath the words, nuances that come from the heart.  The carer will be aware that the patient is often sensitive to the carers moods, and will often want to be happy around the patient.

Moving on from here, once the carer is aware of the realm of the Virtue Matrix and has given themselves to the Holy Spirit who provides a body of virtues, they are then in a position to move communication from a few basic virtue 'words' to a complex, intricate and beautiful virtue 'language'.

Communication can begin by the carer patterning out different virtue patterns, and seeing if the patient responds.  Given the heart and virtues have been all the patient has to work with, it is possible the patient may have been attempting communication in this form themselves without much more than the most basic of responses from the carer.

From here comes the chance to learn to speak and flow (See Flowing) with the other person creatively within the grid utilising different 3 dimensional combinations, (gentleness, joy, innocence), (peace, assurance, strength).

Practice and patience will be rewarded with fluency in a language of heaven.
